Working on my news article about anime for school

So I am working on writing up my news article about getting more people into watching anime and have caused some  commotion among my friends in the process.

My article is arguing about why more kids should watch anime and I am comparing popular shows to anime of similar genres to help them get interested in watching anime; I personally don’t keep up with the popular shows on t.v. so I asked around 20 of my friends what their favorite shows were in the form of 3 group messages; everybody stared replying with answers where as others started asking questions. I tried to answer the questions but since not everybody knew everybody else on the chat they began asking more questions and getting each other confused which sparked even more questions so now I have some of my friends that have given me a full answer and others that have given me one show and then others that simply didn’t answer and are now confused about what just happened.

I hope now that I have a generic idea of what the popular shows are I can figure out some great anime shows to show the kids at my school to help introduce them to anime and show them that anime is even better than those shows!

If all goes well with my article I will happily post it here for everybody that would like to read it for themselves.

p.s. – If any of my friends are reading this I am really sorry for causing you any emotional stress or discomfort

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann!

This title means so much more to me than just another anime title; this title represents my first true exposure of anime. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann was the first anime I watched; I watched it on hulu when hulu was still free and watched it in a matter of days.

I think that this is one of my favorite anime shows because of just how amazing it was and because it was my first.

I’m bringing this up because it has been several years since I watched Gurren Lagann and just the other day my love for the show was rekindled thanks to this video:  (This video contains spoilers so please watch at your own risk)

I have been watching this video so many times the past few days and have decided that I must watch the series again and enjoy it all over.

This show is a great anime and I highly recommend you go and watch it if you like guns, mecha, adventure, and so much more. If you still have doubts about watching it then please be on the look out for an upcoming review on Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann from me in the near future.

An 8 hour road trip means reading lots of manga!

So I’m finally home from my vacation and have decided that my spring break is now over; I’ve come to this decision because tomorrow is Sunday and will be spent doing homework and getting ready for school to start on Monday but that’s not what this about.

This post is about how I spent my 8 hour drive home (which includes about an hour for brunch at the start of the trip). So I had limited things I could do in the car because my sister was using my phone charger because she keeps destroying hers and had to charge her phone so I had to make my phone last and it was only at 60% to begin with. I decided after we ate our brunch at IHOP I would read various array of  manga I had brought with me.

After IHOP we got back on the road and I picked out the first manga I was going to read: Deadman Wonderland which I had picked up on a whim just yesterday. I put my phone’s brightness all the way down and put it on airplane mode and listened to some music to drone out my family. I just want to say that Deadman Wonderland was amazing and I read the first volume in maybe an hour – hour and a half; I got so absorbed in it and just read straight through it. Now, I had also bought volume two of it but didn’t want to read it quite yet because… actually I’m not sure why I didn’t read it; anyway I then decided to read volume one of Death Note Black Edition. I was already a couple of chapters in but still wasn’t very far so I thought it would last me until we got home but I was wrong, dead wrong; I finished Death Note in approximately an hour and a half to two hours.

I decided to take a quick break since we had pulled up to a DQ for a snack and bathroom break; I got a double cheeseburger and ate it fairly quickly and then looked out the car window for about ten minutes before I decided to read some more manga.

I decided to read the first volume of Soul Eater this time and plowed through it in about an hour; I then asked “Are we almost home” and as soon as I asked I noticed that we were in heavy traffic. My dad told me it would me another couple hours so I decided to take a nap but I could have read another volume of Deadman Wonderland or Soul Eater had I wanted to.

When I woke up we were around 20 minutes from my house so I decided to hold off from starting another manga and simply talked with my family.

This post is to simply say that manga or any book can really help speed up long road trips and flights because you get so wrapped up in what you are reading that you don’t notice how much time is passing.

Thanks for reading and hope you have a great day or possibly night depending on where you live

I’m holding a gun loaded with Black Bullets and I like it

So I watched the first episode of  Black Bullet yesterday thanks to Everything Anime’s first impression (<— click)post about it and I can honestly say that I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of the episodes.

Black bullet1

I really like how it’s set in the near future and how the characters have been introduced so far.  The opening is nicely done and the music fits the show incredibly well. Now at the start and end of the opening song I swear it is the same song from Attack on Titan; now I’m not sure if it’s just a coincidence or I’m hearing things and need to get my ears checked.

The show is action packed and has a promising story line and after this first episode leaves a lot of room for development in the characters and the plot. The show is quite intense but still has a humor side in the form of Enju, Rentaro’s initiator.

Overall the show seems like it’s headed down the right path and  you should definitely check it out.

Spring Break and nonstop anime streaming!!

So if you don’t know I am in high school and have just started my spring break today. Today in school however was not as exciting; I had two tests, an essay due, and a pep rally that wasn’t all that peppy.

The big question leading up to the break is always “What are you doing over the break?” and I was no exception to this; when the final bell rang I was talking with my friend and asking him what he was going to do and he asked me what I was going to do. My friend is my friend for a reason; the first thing we said to each other was that we were going to binge watch anime over the break; he is currently watching Full Metal Alchemist and I am watching: Soul Eater, Fairy Tail, and Blue Exorcist.

Now, I am also going to Hilton Head Island tomorrow with my family but that doesn’t mean I won’t be spending countless hours watching anime because the current forecast for HHI is rainy.

Basically all this post is about is the fact that both my friend and I said we would be watching a lot of anime over our break and that I’m happy I get a break from school.

If you happen to be on break or going on break soon I hope you have a great break; if you aren’t on break I still hope you have a great time whatever it is your’re doing.
